A Guide to Wrinkle Cream

Most wrinkles develop as the body ages, collagen production slows down the skin loses its elasticity and begins to crease and sag. Or, you develop wrinkles from environmental factors or even from years of smoking. There are lots of UV blockers on the market to prevent sun damage to skin, which causes wrinkles. As for smoking you should simply stop if you're concerned about developing wrinkles.

If you have wrinkles you are probably thinking about finding a good wrinkle cream to treat them. Many wrinkle creams on the market promise to reduce, remove and prevent age-related wrinkles but not many can provide a long term effect. It seems you just can't stop time. There are quite a few products that can provide temporary help in toning the skin and puffing out those saggy wrinkled areas.

Retinoic acid or Retinol is popular and widely available. It is basically a form of vitamin A applied to the skin which causes it to swell and puff up slightly to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, once the Retinol wears off the skin returns to its normal wrinkled state. Retinols can dry the skin out after a couple of uses so you may want to use it sparingly or use it in combination with a good moisturizer. It also helps the skin create new skin tissue.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids are also used to reduce wrinkles. The three most commonly used types are, Glycolic Acid from sugar cane, Lactic Acid from milk and Citric Acid from citrus fruit. In fact most wrinkle cream products on the market list a bunch of chemicals as ingredients that come from plants. Other simple ways of reducing or preventing wrinkles are to drink lots of water, exercise, stop smoking if you currently are, and supplementing your diet with foods rich in Vitamins A, C, E, and Omega-3 fatty acids.
